On Sunday 2 June Alexandra Bowling Club was invited to celebrate the Centenary of New Milton Bowling Club despite the fact that many people thought that we came from Gosport, near Portsmouth as they have an Alexandra BC there as well!
Buglers Coach Company got Jake to drive our bowlers and visitors through a small part of the New Forest and those who had brought their packed lunch were warmly welcomed with a cuppa and invitation to sit in the pavilion to eat their food. It didn’t seem to worry the organiser, Bob that we all had arrived a good hour earlier than planned due to an uneventful journey.
This is an extremely well set up club which has championship players in their midst who did not mind playing against amateurs in comparison to them. The bar was well stocked, which was important as the day turned out to be quite hot!!
We had a break at nine ends for tea and biscuits and a very fine buffet after the game accompanied by noisy chatter, then the drive home.
Would you believe it, we have been invited again next year – whoopee!!! It will go in the fixture book next year.
